Imbolc and Fire

It’s decidedly nippy today, clear skies and breath made visible, hardly what one would expect on the eve of Imbolc.

February 2nd, Brigid’s Feast Day is on its way! This is a festival dedicated to the Fire Goddess of Poetry, Smithcraft and Healing.  Passion, creation and com-passion are honoured now and they stir from deep within the earth.

In the most unlikely places you will find signs of Spring, the whispers of hope rekindled after the long and treacherous dark of winter.   Small gestures are our encouragement to keep faith, fan the fires and breathe warmth and protection over our newest seedlings. Can you remember the dreams of Yule? Look for them now;  they tentatively reaching  out, looking for direction, light and shelter.

It’s time now to reach deep within and find the fires burning brightly, to raise our awareness of what is becoming, who we are becoming as the wheel turns to meet the growing light. Song and verse ring out in time to hammer on anvil. These rhythms are soothing, healing, a balm to our wounds and fears from the dark.  These are the rhythms of new life, thrumming and throbbing with vitality.

This is a changing time, there is no rest to be found here.  Re-visit your visions; show them the lengthening days and the warmth of the sun.  They will grow, surely and well, if you remember to tend them faithfully.

Bright Blessings,

Marlow
